Jacques A. Nasser is a leading global business executive who currently serves as Chairman of the Board of BHP Billiton. Mr. Nasser was named Chairman in March 2010, after serving as a Director of BHP Billiton Limited and BHP Billiton Plc since 2006. BHP Billiton is a global leader in the resources industry, formed from a merger between BHP and Billiton. Mr. Nasser is also presently a Non-Executive advisory partner of One Equity Partners, the private investment arm of JPMorgan Chase, a board director for NewsCorp’s British Sky Broadcasting Ltd, and member of the International Advisory Council of Allianz Aktiengesellschaft.

Following a 33 year career with Ford in various leadership positions in Europe, Australia, Asia, South America and the US, Mr. Nasser served as a member of the Board of Directors and as President and Chief Executive Officer of Ford Motor Company from 1998 to 2001. Upon joining One Equity Partners in 2002, Mr. Nasser also served as Chairman of Polaroid Corporation before selling the company in 2005.

Mr. Nasser was born in Lebanon, raised in Australia and graduated in business from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Melbourne. In 1968, at the age of 20, Nasser joined Ford as an analyst in its Australian unit, and five years later joined the company's global financial staff, transferring to Ford's North American Truck Operations. He returned to Australia and worked as a manager of financial analysis and product programming, then later joined Ford's International Automotive Operations. In 1987, he became vice president for Autolatina, a joint venture between Ford and Volkswagen in Brazil and Argentina, while also heading up Ford's operations in Australia. He was promoted to the Chairman of the Board of Ford Europe, to Vice President of Ford Motor Company in 1993, and to Group Vice President of global product development in 1994. In 1996, he headed Ford Automotive Operations and became President and CEO in 1988.

While President and CEO, Mr. Nasser oversaw the growth and acquisition of Jaguar, Aston Martin, Volvo, Land Rover, and Hertz. In addition, he restructured the Ford Motor Company, added strength to Ford's light truck and sport utility vehicles, and oversaw a product revolution with the introduction of the Ford Ka and the Ford Focus as well as the return of the iconic Thunderbird.

Mr. Nasser speaks English, Arabic, Spanish, and Portuguese, and holds a Degree in Business from RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia, where Dr. Nasser also received an Honorary Doctorate of Technology, honoris causa. He also holds an AO.

Because of his significant contributions to the well being of humanity and to the country of Lebanon, Mr. Nasser received the Order of the Cedar. In recognition of his work for Australian industry, as an Advisor to Government, and for education in the areas of technology, Dr. Nasser was awarded an Order of Australia and a Centenary Medal. Dr. Nasser was also awarded the Ellis Island Medal of Honor. Born in Amyoun, Lebanon in 1947, Nasser moved with his family to Melbourne, Australia, at the age of four. Mr. Nasser is the son of independent businessman Abdo Nasser, and the father of four children.
